The Francis A. Schaeffer Philosophical Society is a society dedicated to exploring and studying the philosophical currents of the world and finding the appropriate Christian response. It seeks to encourage Christians to reach the world for Christ through intellectual pursuits and by living lives consistent with the call of the Gospel. Francis A. Schaeffer (1912-1984) was a Christian philosopher – though not by his own declaration – who synthesized various Christian philosophies that synced up with Scripture in order to reach the culture. He believed that Christianity reached all aspects of life and subsequently sought to live this way. He believed one could see the worldview of the culture in artistic mediums (music, paintings, movies, etc) and in the new writings. He taught that Christians should keep up with these movements so that they might respond to such beliefs in a Christian manner.
